Child Sexual Abuse - a dark spot on Humanity

Child sexual abuse is a form of child abuse in which an adult or older adolescent abuses a child for sexual stimulation. This leads to severe depression and anxiety among the children.

I would like share an incident that happened in Hyderabad (India) - In the year 2009 (July), a poor farmer living with his wife and 3 daughters in a village that is about 175 KM from Hyderabad has hired one of his daughter as maid servant to merchant residing in Hyderabad. The farmer used to collect his daughter's monthly wage regularly every month but never cared for her well being. At one stage he almost neglected her, taking this as an opportunity the merchant along with his followers used to sexually abuse her and threatened her not to disclose it to any one. This has become a regular activity for them and they had put her in a building that was under construction. on July 10th 2010 she has given birth to a baby girl and eventually in a severe depression she met her parents and busted out in tears. The next scene is not necessary to us, as we are worried about the girl who had been harassed since past one year.

Why children are targeted for quenching there sexual desire ?

The only answer i have is, they are innocent and are unaware of that idiotic and unethical behavior of people towards them. Sexual abuse by a family member is a form of incest, and can result in more serious and long-term psychological trauma, especially in the case of parental incest.

Approximately 15% to 25% of women and 5% to 15% of men were sexually abused when they were children. Most sexual abuse offenders are acquainted with their victims; approximately 30% are relatives of the child, most often brothers, fathers, uncles or cousins; around 60% are other acquaintances such as 'friends' of the family, babysitters, or neighbors; strangers are the offenders in approximately 10% of child sexual abuse cases.Most child sexual abuse is committed by men; studies show that women commit 14% to 40% of offenses reported against boys and 6% of offenses reported against girls.Most offenders who sexually abuse prepubescent children are pedophiles although some offenders do not meet the clinical diagnosis standards for pedophilia. Living in a social society that provides unprecedented importance to children and their education, this animal behavior of certain adults is inexcusable. Government needs to take certain measures to educate people towards respectable social life and govern them towards ethical qualities.
